Right. Well... to start, everyone in Heaven was someone who had died in their original lives. And when they came to Heaven, it was to be a part of God's redemption project. Eight weeks being siphoned off from the rest of Heaven and given the chance to reflect and self-improve and prove they could make good use with a second chance and come back to life. That was all it was meant to be.
And then the possessions started and kinda screwed everything up. It got worse every week from repeat killers to temptation apples to some people just... snapping. [ he sort of hunches forward, elbows resting on his knees and staring at haru like he's gauging his thoughts. ] But everyone who was killed and had their souls damaged healed in time, and they made it back in time for Judgement Day. We had to fix a bunch of the islands that were corrupted by the person responsible for the whole thing, but everything finally calmed down about the time the final judgment was passed.
It was unexpected and we spent weeks trying to find the source of the possession, and for a while I never knew what to tell them about it. How to fix it, how they could help, any of that. Without knowing what we were looking for it was kinda like looking for a drop in an ocean.

A lot of people's trust was broken with each other and in the end I think a lot of them really weren't sure they did deserve the second chance, but it didn't matter. It was still God's decision in the end, and there were eight weeks of observation to help make the choice.
I thought maybe they would be happier knowing my judgment was already made, because I thought it was obvious from all of those weeks that I thought they proved themselves. Pretty sure I gave an entire room depression instead.

Knowing why we're here is a start. It gives us an idea where to go from there, at least, so I'll take what I can get. [ a pause. ] We might not be from the same place, but I wouldn't mind helping you where I can. Whether we end up on the same team or not.
