[ we are on: a gondola in the canals! how did they end up sharing one? well, there's a shortage of gondolas right now, and a lot of people trying to get around, so they're not letting single riders on, so oh no, and they were gondolamates!!
Anyway a few minutes into the ride, as led by one of the shadow people: ]
Okay, I admit it, this is cute...but this water's gotta be super dirty, right? [ she leans over to peer at it ]
[ he absolutely would not check to see if someone else was on a boat before jumping onto it, so this is a-okay. he's peaceably looking over the edge of the gondola even before she speaks, giving her room to do the same. ]
It's probably not safe to swim in. [ city water. ] But it's clean enough for fish. Look.
but he's not like, superhuman, and can only correct his balance so much. so he stumble-falls backward, and the slippery lil canal fish splashes out of his hands into the gondola. or onto her. it's a mystery. ] Ah.
[ okay well you can't just give me the option of throwing a fish onto her and expect me NOT to take it
it slaps her in the face and she immediately starts yelling and panicking, rocking the boat even further as she tries to catch the flopping fish in her own hands
Once she manages it eventually, she absolutely yeets it back at him like she's pitching a fastball ]
[ aggressively bites into a popsicle as she sits overlooking the canals. She feels terrible. But when she sees Haru she just kind of. tenses up awkwardly for a second. ]
[ well, it's a good location, because seeing the canals instantly does a thing to his mood: the dark, dour vibes are dampened to something calm. it's still sad and upset, but nothing violent. ]
Hey. Should I go? [ can't exactly miss the awkwardness this week, thanks emotionshare ]
After the thing with Rin's afterimage? [ or whatever that was. ] Yeah, I was upset then.
[ he says so flatly, though the only emotion it summons is the minor irritation of someone having kind of pissed you off a week ago. he's not above pettiness, but it's basically out of his mind by now. ]
[ wow!! creepy!!! unfortunately, haru in fact does not seem bothered, just leveling a stare back at them as he waits for his latte. it's a staring contest for dominance now. one of the mimes peels away, unable to contend with the pressure. ]
Not really. ...It only gets weird when there's a whole crowd watching you.
[ she tears her eyes off the mimes to look at the menu and then orders like...idk, the fanciest expensive-sounding coffee drink. so like...i guess also a type of latte? i don't know coffee ]
w0 ; monday
Sold out...
no subject
Yeah... Who'd've guessed they'd have so few of them?
no subject
Maybe we can sleep on those.
[ pile of blahaj is here ]
no subject
Wouldn't they just kick us out?
no subject
Some things you can take.
[ he wouldn't usually STEAL but this place is making him a delinquent to survive. ]
It's a pain to work out what you have to pay for first, though.
no subject
So we can just...walk out with a huge pile of these toy sharks?
[ sounds fake ]
no subject
[ stealing is about... stealth :galaxy_brain: ]
It's enough to work as a pillow. <small.[ or you can steal a pillow ]
no subject
no subject
That's better than nothing.
[ when there's no beds left, it's time to get creative. ]
We have to make the best of what there is.
no subject
no subject
[ sometimes you get ahead of the bed supply curve crash for the stupidest reasons possible ]
I'm looking for something for my teammate, though. Maybe a pile of sharks would work... [ seriously considers ]
no subject
So it's your teammate who doesn't have a bed?

anyway Val looks closer and sees the fish swimmin around, barely visible through the rippling water ]
Yeah, but animals can survive in some crazy toxic environments. Those could be mutant fish.
no subject
...I wonder what they taste like.

then he reaches in the water and grabs a small, silvery fish. casually. ]

Val is so taken aback by this that she jolts back in her seat, sending the gondola rocking a little ]

w2, saturday
Hey.
no subject
Hey. Should I go? [ can't exactly miss the awkwardness this week, thanks emotionshare ]
no subject
the question kind of startles and confuses her a little. ]
What? No. I mean--you can if you want, but it's not like I'm going to make you leave. If you want to stay.
no subject
with that, he goes to sit by the water, not too close or far from her. his voice is nonchalant, but his feelings are a sort of apprehensive concern. ]
...Are you okay? Trials are tense.
[ and she seemed, uh, cursed as hell at one point ]
no subject
I'm...fine?
[ edit: (narrator's voice) she is not. her vibes beyond the confusion are still bad. ]
no subject
...Okay. [ OKAY ] You seemed nervous when you first saw me. That's all.
no subject
...just didn't think you'd want to be around me.
no subject
[ he says so flatly, though the only emotion it summons is the minor irritation of someone having kind of pissed you off a week ago. he's not above pettiness, but it's basically out of his mind by now. ]
...It's not a big deal.
no subject
[ gives him A Look. she is still confused but now the tiniest bit of suspicion is there too ]
...are you sure you didn't get cursed too?
no subject
[ he's just not that resentful. he raises a brow. ]
I'm not cursed. Do you want me to be mad at you?
no subject
no subject
Maybe you just have low expectations of people...
no subject
And yet, I'm still regularly disappointed.
no subject
[ he won't insist that she give them all a chance, or that humanity is more good than bad, or whatever. it's just his observation of the group here. ]
no subject
w3, tuesday
This business model can't possibly work.
no subject
[ he seems disaffected by how insanely creepy these hell mimes are. he has to respect the commitment to the bit as he looks over the menu. ]
no subject
no subject
[ no that's not the point ]
Why not?
no subject
[ the mimes are currently staring at them as though pressed up against a glass window like desperate hungry dogs seeing a T-bone steak indoors ]
no subject
Not really. ...It only gets weird when there's a whole crowd watching you.
What's it matter if a few people stare?
no subject
Because...it's uncomfortable?
Does it seriously not bother you?
no subject
No. I'm focused on what I'm doing.
[ so he hardly even notices when people are Observing. ]
They won't hurt you. And it doesn't matter what they're thinking. So why care?
no subject
no subject
[ he just orders himself a latte. ] Do you not want anything?
no subject
[ she tears her eyes off the mimes to look at the menu and then orders like...idk, the fanciest expensive-sounding coffee drink. so like...i guess also a type of latte? i don't know coffee ]
